Hardware & Placement
OneMira isn't a static piece of tech-it moves, looks around, and actively manages your lighting. Because of that, where you put it matters just as much as how you use it.
Finding the Perfect Spot
Unlike a normal desk lamp that you just shove into a corner, OneMira needs visibility. It uses its camera to read your posture and see what you're working on.
The Ideal Setup:
- Off-center, slightly forward: The best place is usually to the left or right of your primary monitor, angled slightly inward.
- Clear Line of Sight: Make sure your monitors or boom arms aren't blocking its view of your face. If it can't see your eyes, it can't tell if you're straining or distracted.
- Room to move: Remember, the head articulates. Leave at least a few inches of clearance behind and above it so it doesn't bump into your wall or shelves when it "wakes up" or tracks your movement.
Powering OneMira
OneMira packs serious robotics (precision motors, AI edge processors, and blindingly bright LEDs) into a very small footprint. That means it needs clean, consistent power.
- Use the included adapter: We highly recommend using the included 65W USB-C brick.
- Can I run it off my monitor or laptop? Technically, some high-end Thunderbolt monitors can output enough power, but we don't recommend it. Sudden motor movements combined with max brightness can cause voltage drops on standard laptop ports, causing the lamp to reboot mid-sentence. Just plug it into the wall.
The Physical Interface
While OneMira is built to be a voice-first, AI-driven companion, sometimes you just want to turn off the light without talking to it.
There is a capacitive touch strip on the base.
- Tap once: Toggle the LED light on/off.
- Slide left/right: Manually adjust the brightness.
- Long press: Put OneMira into "Sleep Mode" (Motors lock, microphone disables, eye turns off).
It feels incredibly solid. The aluminum chassis stays cool even when the LEDs are pushing max lumens, and the motors are tuned to be whisper-quiet so they don't get picked up on your Zoom calls.
